Like for so many, the bombings during Monday’s marathon have impacted me and AJ on a profoundly personal level. Marathon Monday is a fantastic day in our neighborhood as we have the thrill of watching the runners race by, just two quick turns from the finish line. It’s a day of innocence, of drive, of community, of possibility.
I cannot help but feel incredibly emotional and moved watching the news footage of the first responders- police, EMS, firefighters, medics, race volunteers, runners and spectators raced toward the bomb sites to aid those impacted just a few blocks from our home. We live in a city where strength and courage are instinct. The journey of healing will be long and painful for many who were wounded by the bombings. If you would like to help, Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and Boston’s Mayor Menino have established The One Fund of Boston, Inc, a foundation to help those most affected by Monday’s terrible events. Sending love and thanks from Boston’s Back Bay as we work hard to look forward. Life is precious, hug your loved ones…
Police stopping the Boston Marathon just steps away.
On a lighter note, here is a little clip from the Colbert Reports which I found tastefully funny during this delicate time:
